Shri Marikamba Temple is located at Sirsi, Karnataka state, dedicated to Goddess Durga. Shri Marikamba Temple is also called as Doddamma Temple, Doddamma refers to the elder one, of all Goddess in Karnataka. Goddess Marikamba is also called by the names Goddess Renuka and Goddess Yellamma. Shri Marikamba Temple is said to be built in the year 1688. The presiding priest of this temple belongs to the Vishvakarma, carpenters. It is said that Mahatma Gandhi refused to visit this temple, as sacrifice of animals are the major ancient practice in this temple.
The presiding deity of this Shri Marikamba Temple is Goddess Marikamba, stands with eight arm, riding tiger, and killing a demon. Animal sacrifice was the common practice at this temple to pacify the goddess. The seven feet idol of the presiding deity is believed to be recovered from a pond near Hanagal. The cloister of this temple is completely filled with the images of deities from the Hindu epics. The temple contains an art which was the most popular art in the coastal Konkan region of Karnataka state. It is a special paintings of murals in Kaavi art.

Sirsi is linked to other parts of the state many state highways. Sirsi linked to neighbouring district headquarters of Dharwad, Udupi, Haveri, Belagaum, Sagara, Shimoga, Shikaripura, and Soraba and to all major cities/towns in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.
Nearest railhead is at Talguppa. Talguppa is 54 km from Sirsi. Talguppa railway connects Bengaluru city via Sagara. Major railhead is Hubli, which is the Zonal Headquarters of South Western Railways.
Nearest airport is in Hubli and the other is Belgaum which are about 2.5 hours and 5 hours’ drive from Sirsi respectively. Hubli is connected to Bangalore and Mumbai by air.
