Sri Thirukaarvaanar Temple is situated inside the temple complex of Ulagalandha Perumal Temple, Kanchipuram district of Tamilnadu. Thirukaarvaanar Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desam Temples, which are dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and also named as ‘Thiru Kaar Vaanam’. This temple is situated very close to Kamakshi Amman Temple and also located inside the temple premises of Ulagalandha Perumal Temple which houses four temples of ‘108 Divya Desam Temples’ on it own. The four Divya Desams are located within the same shrine. They are:

  1. Thirukaarvaanam
  2. Thirukaaragam
  3. Thiruooragam
  4. Thiruneeragam

Specialty

The presiding deity of this Thirukaarvaanar Temple is Lord Sri Kalvar seen facing towards the north direction and Goddess of this temple is Goddess Komalavalli Thayaar. There is a separate shrine found for Goddess Aranavalli Thayaar. The Vimanam (tower above the sanctum sanctorum) of Sri Thirukaarvaanar Temple is called Pushpaka Vimanam. The Pushkarani (temple tank) of Sri Thirukkaar vaanar Temple is called Gowrithadagam (Tharathara theertham) Pushkarani. This temple is glorified in Nalayira Divya Prabandham, the Vaishnava canon, and hymns were sung by the saint Thirumangai Azhwar.

By Road

The city of Kanchipuram is well connected with the other part of the states and it is few kms from the Quadrilateral National Highway. There are frequent bus services from Chennai and it takes 2- 3 hours to reach. The Chennai Metropolitan and the state express transport operate the services.


By Train

Kanchipuram is connected with the southern part of the rail network and few trains are running through Kanchipuram. Suburban trains are running between Kanchipuram and Chennai beach on specified intervals.

Chennai, the nearest international airport, is situated around 75 km away from Kanchipuram. Both public and private transport facilities are available at the airport.
