Thiruparamapadham is said to be the Supreme and Eternal Abode of Lord Vishnu and also considered to be one of the 108 Divya Desam temples, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Among 108 Divya Desam temple, 106 temples are situated on Earth. And two Divya Desams are present beyond the earth. The two special Divya Desams present beyond the Earth are:
- Thiruparkadal (the ocean of milk)
- Thiruparamapadham (the place where Lord Vishnu presides)
Thiruparamapadham is also called by the names Vishnuloka, Vaikuntam, Vaikuntaloka, Brahmaloka-sanatana, and Brahmajyoti. Thiruparamapadham is the 108th and last Divya Desam, which is located beyond the material universe. It is said that the presiding deity of Thiruparamapadham is Lord Vishnu along with Goddess Lakshmi, resting on Adiseshan.
Thiruparamapadham is considered to be the ultimate destination of Athmas (souls), attaining moksham (emancipation). And it is believed that the Athmas, with good deeds done in their life time would be reside at Thiruparamapadham and would enjoy the company of Lord Vishnu. Ashtakshara Manthram, “Om Namo Nrayana”, has more importance in the eternal abode of Lord Vishnu.
