Thiruparkadal (Ocean of Milk) is also called as Kshir Sagar, which is considered to be one of the 108 Divya Desam temples, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Among 108 Divya Desam temple, 106 temples are situated on Earth. And two Divya Desams are present beyond the Earth. The two special Divya Desams present beyond the Earth are:

  1. Thiruparkadal (the ocean of milk)
  2. Thirupparamapadham (the place where Lord Vishnu presides)

Thiruparkadal is the 107 th Divya Desam which is said to be located at Extraterrestrial Universe, where Lord Vishnu is said to be in Sayana posture, the eternal yogic sleep on the serpent Adisheshan, along with Goddess Lakshmi. The presiding deity of Thiruparkadal is Lord Vishnu as Lord Thiruparkadal Nathan also called as Sri Ksheerapthi Nathan and Parkadal Vannan. HE is believed to be facing to the south direction, which is the direction of Yamadharmaraja (the lord of death) to watch His activities.

Thiruparkadal (Ocean of Milk) has the sacred Amrita, which is the nectar of immortal life. And it is believed that Jeevathma (soul) can only able to reach the sacred place Thiruparkadal. It is said the Lord in Thiruparkadal will be watching all the activities of all the Athmas (living things), and depending upon their good deeds and sins. Here Lord Vishnu is considered to be declaring the final Mukthi (emancipation).

And this holy place is said to be surrounded by the holy Ashtakshara Manthram, “Om Namo Nrayana”, the mantra reaches the ultimate goal Vaikunta planet where one attains eternal blissful life. The Theertham of Thiruparkadal is believed to be the sacred Amrita Theertham.
